I’m the sole runner of this site and what I do is change the mess the machine translations make of the novels I like into something that actually makes sense. Since no one else is translating the novels I like, I might as well do it myself ya feel?
Word of warning, I don’t know Chinese and my method of “translating” is through using machine translations to have a starting point of what a story is trying to say and then using my English comprehension skills to make them legible. I also use a Chinese dictionary site and Baidu searches for certain words and phrases to help me understand what the original Chinese is trying to convey. If certain concepts need a bit more research to understand what’s going on, I also do research on whatever subject the author is talking about so I can include a translator’s note to explain things that will help you understand what’s going on.
I don’t consider my translations “proper translations” but they’re leagues better than what you’ll get using regular MTL. If anyone wishes to do proper translations of something I’m translating, then please hit me up on that cause I’ll gladly hand the story over to more experienced individuals.
